When I try to load an Office Document from my extranet, I'm prompted for a User Name and Password. A. This is a Microsoft Office bug that Microsoft has documented at http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q225/2/34.ASP. If you click Cancel in response to the prompt, the document opens. Occasionally you may have to click Cancel multiple times. The bug is corrected in Office Service Pack 1. The document noted above provides instructions on downloading and installing the service pack. We recommend upgrading Office with this Service Pack. Q. When I try to download certain files from my extranet, I receive a screen with only a small icon in the upper left corner when I would expect to see a the Save As dialog box. I'm using Internet Explorer 4.01. A. This is a Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 bug that Microsoft has documented at http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q182/3/15.asp. According to Microsoft there is no reliable work-around for this bug. Their recommendation is to upgrade to Internet Explorer 5.x. With ExtranetPlus this bug occurs when the server does not recognize the type of file being downloaded; ExtranetPus recognizes most common file types. If this is a problem with your extranet and you are unable to upgrade to Internet Explorer 5.x, please contact support and we will attempt to find a work-around for your particular file type. This problem does not exist with Netscape Navigator. |
